On Monday 8 April, six MGS boys performed to a packed Royal Festival Hall as part of the Duet Philharmonic Orchestra. This is an auditioned orchestra, which included many top musicians from other schools, and aims to perform repertoire not normally accessible by other local youth orchestras. The focus of the concert, and the course preceding it at Wellington College, was Mahler’s huge Sixth Symphony; Stravisnsky’s Symphony of Psalms and Wagner’s Die Meistersinger Overture were also performed.

The boys involved were Sam Woodward (Principal Flute), William Jeys (Principal Trumpet), Glyn Webster (Violin 2), Rob Polya (Oboe 2), Sam Carey (Cor Anglais, Oboe) and Robert White (Viola).

The concert was hugely impressive and was a remarkable achievement for all involved.
