Many congratulations to MGS's Mihir Acharya, a very talented engineer in Year 13, who has been awarded a Gold Crest Award from the British Science Association after devising and creating a device to help prevent pressure ulcers from developing in bed-bound patients.

Mihir's Pressure Ulcer Prevention System is a device that will alert carers or nurses when a patient needs their sheets changed, or to be turned position, so as to prevent painful pressure ulcers (bed sores) before they become painful, debilitating, and costly to treat.

This is a fantastic achievement by Mihir, who received high praise from the judges and will be receiving a personalised certificate in due course.

Crest is the British Science Association's scheme for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) project work that inspires young people to think and behave like scientists and engineers.
