Year 6 pupil Aidan has been excelling in his favourite sport, football, beyond the school pitches whilst also balancing his academic studies.

He explained how he has always enjoyed the sport from a young age: "My parents told me that even as a toddler I used to love kicking a ball about. When I was 6, I joined a club – FS Academy in Wigan. Our team won pretty much all the matches and even some county tournaments. This was where I was scouted by 3 clubs – the first was Manchester City, then Liverpool FC, and finally, Manchester United.  At one point, I was going to sessions for all 3 clubs at the same time. It kept me very busy but I loved it!

Aidan commented on what he learnt at the various clubs: "I have a lot of great experiences with each Academy. With Manchester United, I trained with the Select and Elite teams in Carrington and at the Cliff. We played a lot of games and had tournaments where we dressed up in kits from different countries and walked out to the Champions League song. I remember one Christmas where we watched a live MUFC game in the Old Trafford VIP box and had a party afterwards; that was very fun!

"At Manchester City, we trained at the Academy grounds near the Etihad Stadium. My most memorable experience was training with Oleksandr Zinchenko and shaking hands with Pep Guardiola, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling. I also went to a big tournament, which was held in the Doncaster stadium, to represent MCFC Academy which was very memorable indeed.

"Lastly, there is Liverpool FC, which is where I currently attend. What I like about it best is that the coaches are really nice, they let us play around and shoot in the goals before training starts. The other players are also very friendly and kind.

Aidan summarised his experiences by saying: "All these experiences have given me fun memories and helped me become a better player, which I am very thankful for. I enjoyed all of it and it made me love football even more!"

Well done Aidan and best of luck for all your football training in the future!
