Summer Success at MUN Conference for MGS boys

On Sunday 1 July, MGS took three delegations to Withington Girls’ School’s 10th Model United Nations conference, representing the countries Kazakhstan, Sweden and Zimbabwe. 

The delegation of Kazakhstan won the highly commended delegation award effectively coming in second place, which is a fantastic achievement.

Other Kazakhstan delegates also won individual awards. Rowan Fitton and Barney Potts won highly commended delegate awards in the Security Council and in the Special Commission on the Middle East. Patrick Hill-Aspinall and Raman Gnanalingham won commended delegate awards in the Youth and Health committees and Zaidan Akhtar got a Special Mention in the ECOSOC committee. 

Lucas Veltkamp and Marc Kadir were also part of the winning Kazakhstan delegation in the Political and EnviroSci committees.

In the Swedish delegation, Kiran Raja and Oliver Sandall both won highly commended delegate awards in the Political and Youth committees. George Weir and Nick Barclay both got a special mention in the Human Rights Council and Hispanic committee. Noah Lewis won the delegate award in the joint committee session. Akber Tahir and Anton Sodha were also part of the Swedish delegation, debating in the Security Council and Human Rights committee.

Zach Foster, Archie Jones, Anudarshi Majumdar and Muadh Malallah all represented the delegation of Zimbabwe in the Human Rights Council, Human Rights committee and Health committee. Muadh and Zach both also got a special mention in their committees.
