Two brilliant young swimmers are reaping the rewards for their hard work in the MGS pool after winning Northern Titles at the North West Regional Championships 2010. 



Harry Lewis-Mitchell (11) won the 100 metre butterfly, while Lewis Robinson (13) won the 100 and 200 metre back stroke with a second place in the butterfly.  Both boys train at Stockport Metro and at school, fitting in sessions before and after lessons. They are now training hard for the national finals at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, in July.

The boys cite American superstar Michael Phelps and local heroes Michael Rock and James Goddard as their inspirations, and said:

Like all young athletes our ultimate ambition would be to swim at the Olympics, but we know there is a lot of hard work ahead.

Junior Schools Championships

The Junior School swimming team has done us proud by coming 7th in the English Schools Swimming Championships. The four boys, Harry Lewis-Mitchell, Luke Parker, Keir North and Charlie Pozniak, impressively knocked a whole six seconds off their time from the regional final.

Despite being up against some of the country's fastest swimmers, they remained undaunted, maintained their concentration and composure, coming in 7th in the penultimate race of the day. And as if that wasn't enough, our boys were the only team with the grace and manners to seek out the overall coordinator and thank her for the effort she had put in.

A huge well done to them all!
