Head of Department - Rick Kelly BA MA Phil
This is a subject in its own right at the School and has proved immensely popular and successful.
Many of our pupils go on to read Politics courses at university, including PPE at Oxford and Politics and International Studies at Cambridge.
(Pictured Above: Grand inquisitor Michael Crick, Political Editor for C4 News, returned to his old school to face the questions of the next generation of political pundits. Click here for full story.)
Our A-Level course includes voting behaviour and elections, political parties and pressure groups, the changing British constitution and the main ideologies underpinning British political debate (conservatism, liberalism, feminism, multiculturalism, nationalism etc). Additionally, the department is responsible for the organisation of various school mock elections and referenda.

The Department launched and now hosts the Political Education Forum – an on-line service for students and teachers of Politics nationwide: www.politicaleducationforum.com.
All members of the department's teaching staff have written numerous textbooks and articles relating to political science, and Richard Kelly writes freelance articles for national journals such as Private Eye and the Spectator.
