Modelling Aspects of Cancer Progression and Therapy

Growth and progression of cancer is a highly complex phenomenon involving numerous interacting processes. In this talk we will explore some of the key metabolic effects thought to play an important role in this. We will look at three different types of model, and at each stage, we present experimental evidence supporting the findings of the models and discuss the implications for therapy.

The programme is being recorded live in the Memorial Hall at MGS. Discovering Music takes well known pieces of music and analyses their construction, background and influences; the musical examples are played by live performers. The session ends with a complete performance of the work studied. The programme is in two halves separated by an interval; the first half is the analysis and the second the complete performance with each half lasting approximately 40 minutes.

University Admissions Information Evening
Meet in Memorial Hall - Event run in five separate venues from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Admission is free to all MGS students and and their parents in Years 10, 11 and Lower Sixth. The event is also open to MHSG Year 10 and 11 students and their parents.
Speakers from five of the top UK universities will present talks about the perceived admission crisis as recently highlighted in the press, and how to deal with the situation. The talks will take place in five different venues, each lasting 30 minutes, and you will be able to attend up to three of the talks. More information on speakers and the content of each talk will be published shortly.

MGS Jazz Dinner Dance
Memorial Hall 7:30 pm until 11:00 pm
The Music Department invites you to their 2010 Dinner Dance in the Manchester Grammar School Memorial Hall.
The evening of Swing and Jazz will be presented by the Senior Jazz Band supported by The Big Band, The Thursday Singers and The Benny Goodman Clarinets. A delicious three course dinner with coffee will be prepared by our Catering Manager, Richard Palembello, and his team, and a bar will be run by Music Department staff.
All money raised from the evening will go towards the Senior Jazz Band’s 2011 tour to the San Sebastian Jazz Festival. This always proves to be a very enjoyable evening and you are advised to book early. Please print off the booking form in the Publications Section and return to Helen Butchart by Friday 17 April at the very latest.
