Government Achievement and Attainment Tables

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has today released its tables for GCSE performance.  We note that yet again MGS is recorded as having no pupils at all achieving five or more A* to C grade GCSEs including English and Mathematics despite our 100% success in this regard.

Universities and employers are very happy to accept International GCSEs as equivalent to home-based GCSEs.  However, as you will be aware, the DCSF is unwilling to regard them as equivalent.

The first consequence of this politically-motivated stubbornness is the relegation of many of the very best academic schools in the country (including MGS) to the bottom of the government tables.  The second is that the tables are effectively meaningless.

If you have any questions or comments, please do contact me through highmaster@mgs.org.

Dr Christopher Ray
