Behind the scenes staff at The Manchester Grammar School put their best feet forward to run in the BUPA Greater Manchester 10K run.
Colleagues Tina Burkinshaw and Kath Heathcote started taking running a little more seriously to compete in the charity race, each raising over £200.
Tina, Secretary to the Deputy High Master Stuart Leeming, who was running for The Christie Hospital, broke the magical one-hour benchmark, speeding round the city centre course in just 59 minutes.
Admissions Manager, Kath, was not far behind coming home in a highly impressive 65 minutes, as she ran for Cancer Research.
Tina said: I couldn’t run for a bus before I started, but now I feel much fitter and really enjoyed the challenge and the fact I’ve raised money for the Christie.
Kath added: My goal is to run again next year and improve my time; I have always run to keep fit, but the race gave me something to focus on!
Both women intend to continue their new fitness regimes, but laughed off suggestions that Paula Radcliffe would be looking over her shoulder.
