We opened the Parker Art Halls in 1992 which provided a dramatic backdrop for creative work in the vaulted ceilings below the old clock tower.
Recent changes to the curriculum have seen creative art and design produced in studio workshops and a design studio on another site within the school. This makes us one of the best-equipped schools for Art and Design in the country.
Sculpture, ceramics and glass, jewellery, CAD/CAM, graphics and digital media, photography, painting and drawing and a range of printmaking techniques are taught to groups of boys by a team of specialist full-time staff, aided by technicians and artists-in-residence.
We are the only school in the country to have our own silver hallmark with a highly advanced commitment to Computer Aided Design.
An open-door policy ensures that all boys can continue with art and design regardless of whether or not they wish to join the highly successful sets for Art and Design at GCSE and A-level. Pupils from Spanish language club may be making Picasso collages alongside Young Enterprise pupils plotting their schemes and advertising their wares.
The studios are full every lunchtime with creative work. Regular clubs and societies include examination workshops, Lower School Pottery Club, life drawing and many more.
