May I extend a very warm invitation to you all to play an active role in your MGS Parents' Society. All parents of current pupils are automatically members.
The purpose of the Parents’ Society is to foster closer relations between parents and the school and in doing so, providing contact between parents and raising money for items which fall outside the school budget. Do look at our newsletter to see what we have provided in the recent past.
We are involved in lots of activities at school, both for fundraising purposes and just to meet other parents socially and compare notes. Our annual Burns Night Supper is always a sell out: it not only raises lots of money for the school but also provides an opportunity to dress up in kilts and tartan and show off your Scottish dancing skills!
A rota of parents provides refreshments after the Saturday morning sports fixtures, for boys and parents. We sell souvenirs e.g. boot bags, swim bags, cuff links (the ideal gift when your son leaves 6th form, far off though that day may now appear!). We help with the perennial problem of Lost Property. Our 200 Club is very popular and raises a lot of funds.
I do hope that you will join with us and support our events. Your support does not have to be physical – donations for raffle prizes are always welcome, you could volunteer to help on a specific basis for one event or you might want to come along and help us plan our activities. Just buying tickets for our events is a great support!
We recognise that in the current economic climate not everyone is in a position to spend much money supporting our events, but offers of help are always appreciated and your time is just as welcome.
