Sister Fran McNamara, has been with MGS as nursing Sister/Counsellor for seven years providing both a medical and a counselling service, including relaxation sessions for pupils and staff.  She is currently the Chairman of the North West Independent School Nurses Forum.  Sister McNamara is a specialist practice nurse with advanced qualifications to treat asthmatics and diabetics and has a Diploma in counselling. She has 14 years A&E experience,12 of which were as a Sister.

Charge Nurse David Brown joined the team in 2007. He specialised in burns and plastics and spent six years on the burns unit, a further six years in A&E, seven years as an occupational health nurse and three years as a district nurse. Nurse Brown is currently studying for a diploma in Sports Injuries Treatment and Management.

Sister Caroline Mellor has been the MGS Fixtures Nurse primarily working on Saturday morning. She also works as an Occupational Health Nurse in Trafford Park.

Dr John Burn has been our School Medical Officer since 2000. He was a hospital paediatrician at the Royal Bolton Hospital for 30 years and now works part-time as a community paediatrician and is an active member of Medical Officers of Schools Association. Dr Burn is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

First Aid is provided when required, as well as treatment for minor ailments. The medical staff are central to the School's system of pastoral care, working in partnership with the teaching staff while offering confidentiality to pupils. A person centred counselling service is provided.

Routinely additional services are provided such as health interviews, co-ordination of immunisations, health education in assemblies and in the Personal and Social Education programme, risk assessment for trips and treks and the provision of first aid kits and advice.

The medical staff also provide a service for all the staff working at the School.
