MGS has a long tradition of attracting pupils from a very wide geographical area and acknowledges the fact that parents may be concerned about the distances their sons have to travel to attend the school. However, our pupils tell us that they enjoy the independence their journeys give them.
It is a school rule that a pupil should be able to get to and from school by public transport, even if he normally benefits from a lift.
MGS Shuttle Services
The majority of our pupils live within an hour of school, but we do have pupils from as far away as Preston, Sheffield, Buxton and Stoke-on-Trent. The MGS City Centre Shuttle ensures that any pupil arriving at Victoria or Piccadilly railway stations is able to continue their journey to school collectively with fellow pupils.
Cheadle Shuttle: Cheadle, Bramhall, Hazel Grove Altrincham Shuttle: Altrincham, Timperley, Bowden Hale City Centre Shuttle: Victoria and Piccadilly Stations
All deliver pupils to the main School gates.
We are happy to provide suggested travel arrangements based on our database of pupils' routes. The Friends Scheme means that first-year pupils have an older pupil who is able to accompany them on their school journeys for the first few days of the school year.
