Simon is a former pupil of MGS and joined as a teacher in the Geography Department in 2004. He was the School's Transport Co-ordinator until 2010 and was responsible for the successful introduction of the MGS Shuttles. Simon joined the Development Team in 2009 as Assistant Director of Development, and was appointed to take over from Ian Thorpe in 2010. Ian continues his work with in the Development Office as a part-time adviser.
Ian Thorpe was Director of Development from 2003 until 2010 when he decided to stand down from the role to work as a part-time adviser. Ian was a former pupil at MGS from 1962 to 1969, and joined the teaching staff in 1977 as an English specialist. He was Head of Lower School from 1982 to 1992 and a Surmaster from 1992 to 2003.
Jane joined MGS in 2005 to work in the general office and now looks after our alumni. She organises events and regularly keeps in touch with the 10,000 Old Mancunians (known as Owls) on our data base. If you are a 'lost Owl' Jane would love to hear from you.
Julie was appointed in 2008 and is the Secretary to the Old Mancunians' Association. She looks after the Development Office's financial records and also oversees the Old Mancunian newsletter through to publication.
