A camp about the water, with the site situated on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake, about 5 miles north of Keswick where we have a farm and fields to ourselves near Scar Ness.
The secluded location is really magical overlooking the feeding grounds of the Osprey with spectacular views across the lake to the surrounding mountains. We take a large marquee tent and twenty bell tents. A wide programme of activities is on offer and all these are optional.
We make full use of the lake, and encourage all boys to try their hand at sailing, canoeing and raft-building. Instruction is available in all activities and we work with a superb, local outdoor pursuit’s provider, allowing us to enjoy access to excellent equipment including Laser Pico’s.

There are regular walks, some in the mountains and others by the lake shore all of which are voluntary. Mountain Biking takes place every morning and afternoon on trails in Whinlatter Forest, which is very nearby. Orienteering also takes place at Whinlatter using permanent courses.
Boys may visit Keswick and in the plentiful free time make use of our wide range of indoor and outdoor games including table tennis, football, softball and podex.

Many boys and staff also enjoy the site, the shore and surroundings themselves to sit and relax with magnificent views in a remote, tranquil location.
