Cultural Visits

Whether our boys want to travel to far off lands such as Peru, China, Cuba, Vietnam, Utah, or South Africa, undertake the challenge of a desert trek in the Sahara or through the High Atlas mountains, join our ventures to Russia, Iceland, Greece, Spain, Germany and France, or enjoy the outdoors at Owls’ Nest or camp – all are on offer here at MGS.

The trip to China this year began in Beijing touring some of the world’s architectural gems including the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City.  Boys experienced the New York of the Orient in Shanghai, and took an evening cruise to enjoy the neon skyline.

Our boys visit to Wuhan Foreign Languages School gave them a real insight into the life of a modern Chinese student and enabled them to make friends and practise their Mandarin.

привет!

We experienced life as true Russians this year by staying with local residents.  Highlights of the trip included a football match between MGS and ‘School No.56’ and a visit to ‘Peterhof’, Peter the Great’s magnificent palace. The lasting impression for me was the warmth and generosity of the Russian people.

The Rugby Tour to South Africa

MGS Rugby Club combined their third tour of South Africa – winning half their matches – with some amazing sightseeing seeing. In Johannesburg they visited the Mabula game reserve and The Cradle of Humankind – a vast network of limestone caves.

In Cape Town the team enjoyed the magnificent views from Table Mountain, toured Langa Township, visited a Robben Island prison and finished with a spectacular trip along the coastline.
