Adventure

We want our boys to be adventurous.

The first foreign trek set out from MGS in 1910, and every year since there have been expeditions to almost all of the mountain ranges in the UK and Europe, and some further afield.

Today there are three annual treks – Scottish, Foreign and Desert; their most recent destinations have been Skye, the Atlas Mountains and the Wahiba Sands in the Oman respectively.

In addition to trekking, there are numerous opportunities for boys to be active and adventurous; these include a very wide range of educational trips, in the UK and overseas, as well as diving expeditions, skiing, sailing and gliding trips. Four annual camps (including three in the Lake District) cater for over two hundred and fifty boys each year. There has been a very active climbing club at MGS for over fifty years. Every Saturday during term time we offer free Mountain Activity Days (MAD Days), which take boys to the Lakes and Snowdonia National Park.
