MGS’s volunteer archivist Jeremy Ward, who taught at MGS from 1974 to 1997 and who has been volunteering with our Archives Team ever since, has published his first ever book.

A two-year labour of love that started after an appeal for information in March 2020, ‘On a Wing and a Prayer’ charts the story of the massive MGS connection to the RAF, especially during WWII. Well over 1,000 OMs have served in the RAF and many have remarkable stories to tell.

The book details some of these stories. Many photographs, some published for the first time, accompany the text and Appendices list all the OMs who we know to have served in the RAF.

A limited edition of the book either in printed or PDF form is available from the Development Office. If you would like a copy, please contact Julie Wright on 0161 224 7201 ext 241 or j.wright@mgs.org. If you enjoy reading the book you are invited to send a donation to the School, to be divided between the MGS Bursary Fund and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
