National success for MGS chemists

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that MGS finished second out of 30 teams in the National Finals of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s prestigious Top of the Bench competition.
The competition was held remotely at the end of March 2021, and saw 120 pupils from 30 teams drawn from across the UK, Belgium and Luxembourg, pitting their wits against each other in a series of online chemistry challenges.
And we are delighted to say that the MGS quartet of Benjamin Mathole (Year 11), Jake Butler-Smith (Year 9), Sean Luo (Year 9) and Nathan Loh (Year 10) finished second overall – which is a phenomenal achievement and represented MGS’s best performance in the competition for many years.
Everyone at MGS is so proud of these talented young chemists!
