Sixth Form pupils at The Manchester Grammar School are able to celebrate today following the publication of another set of outstanding results.

Almost all pupils will be taking up a place at their first choice university. 23 boys will be heading off to Oxford and Cambridge. Other leading universities that MGS boys will be joining in significant numbers include Imperial, UCL, LSE, Durham, Warwick, York, KCL, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds.

29 pupils have places to study Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science.

The High Master, Dr Martin Boulton, said: “This is an outstanding set of results, and I am immensely proud of the way our boys have adapted to what has been a very challenging 18 months.

“The boys’ education has been disrupted through lockdowns, remote learning and, in some instances, having to isolate for extended periods of time. It has been a year like no other; one of uncertainty and unpredictability. However, pupils have risen admirably to the challenges they have faced, and this year’s superb results reflect that. Their resilience, hard work and determination is to be applauded, and they should be as proud of themselves as we are of them.”

“I would also like to pay tribute to the care, hard work and professionalism of all the MGS staff. This has also been a very challenging year for teachers, who have had to adapt to totally new ways working.  In particular, the process of awarding Teacher Assessed Grades has been a monumental effort by everyone involved. Teachers up and down the country deserve a great deal of credit for all of their hard work.”
