Year 13 Anton Ross Wainwright Digital Poster prize

Congratulations to Year 13 pupil Anton Ross who has been awarded the Wainwright Digital Poster Prize Senior Award run by the University of Oxford.

He said: “I researched the Hezekiah tunnels, which were built beneath Jerusalem's City of David, for my winning entry for the G. A Wainright digital poster competition. I was astounded by the sophistication with which archaeological study can produce such precise results, with the archaeological dating of the tunnel matching the period in the Old Testament of 701BCE.

There is still a lot of speculation about who built these tunnels, and my poster looked into the many hypotheses and evaluated how accurate they were. I was delighted to learn that I had won the £250 prize, and with an offer from Oxford to read Archaeology and Anthropology next year, I plan to develop my research skills even more.”
