Year 7 pupil Jai K has recently won the Bolton Arena Winter regional LTA under 12 boys tournament, and is certainly a tennis player to watch!

Jai spoke about his first encounters with tennis: “I was introduced to the world of Lawn tennis at the age of 4 .I fell in love with the sport immediately and have never looked back. I now take immense pride in representing my county, Lancashire, at various county cup events and feel humbled to be figuring amongst the top players in the UK in the under 12 category”.

He added: “Longer training sessions and travelling to different cities for competitions has meant missing social events, more time on the road and less free weekend time but I wouldn't change it for the world”.

When talking about competing, Jai said: “I have experienced the ultimate high of winning in various competitions and there have been some hard losses with tears. Over time I have realised that there are more lessons to be learnt from a loss than there are from a victory. I am learning to take both in my stride and striving for improvement continuously. A lot in sport is about winning, but it is also about being a good sportsperson. I am learning to give it my best, be fair and let the best man win”.

He concluded: “Tennis has taught me that one should never give up and always give 100% to all one wants to achieve and therefore I have no qualms in sharing that my aspirations are to get more revs on my forehand than Rafael Nadal!”

Well done Jai from everyone here at MGS and keep up the hard work!
