Congratulations to year 10 pupil Joe who has completed some filming with CBBC and Blue Peter presenter Richie Driss which focuses on his work achieving a Blue Peter Badge for Music!

Joe said: "I am an avid songwriter. Last year, I submitted my application for a Blue Peter music badge in the hopes that I could show a few people what I had been up to after writing new music over lockdown, including my EP, Gone. Never did I think a year later I would get a call from the planning producers that they wanted to put me on TV. They said how impressed they were with my music and wanted to do a small feature on me for the upcoming music special. I was so happy to hear this after all the hard work and long hours spent writing and to hear that someone appreciates my work so much is really encouraging. The whole process was really fun but repeating what I said multiple times for different camera angles took some getting used to".

He spoke about the filming process, saying: "Firstly, they filmed some B-roll of me mixing my upcoming release, and then the producer wanted me to teach the presenter, Richie, how to make a beat. We built the instruments up from drums, adding bass and keys etc. I showed him what to do then he had a go too. Then I had to show one I made earlier as the final result. There were two cameras, one for a wide shot, and one for alternating close ups for me and Richie, which meant that I had to repeat certain moments to get different camera angles but I soon got into the flow of it and really enjoyed the process".

Well done to Joe for his hard work and dedication to music and we wish him the best of luck for his future in music, and we look forward to watching the episode on TV soon!
