Congratulations to all pupils who performed in the production of Flint Street during the second half of Michaelmas term 2022.

Set in the fictitious inner city Flint Street Primary School, on the Welsh-Cheshire borders. It focuses on the seven- and eight-year-old pupils in that evening's sole performance of the school nativity play, from the pre-performance classroom preparations to the final stage performance, which culminates in calamity.

Year 9 pupils Ollie and Issac commented on their experiences of performing: "Right from the first day of Activities Week, to the last performance, putting together this production has just simply been amazing. We both spent around 3 months working on the flintstreet nativity, with that time being filled with incredible memories that we will never forget. In our time involved in the production, it has become clear to us that a play is much more than a performance on stage, but rather a whole process of emotion, time and detail that has had a beneficial impact on every cast member. Through this process, we both have developed new skills and interests that we never thought we would enjoy before being a part of such a unique experience, such as singing and even building the courage to perform in front of an audience.

"We both agree that in this relatively small time, the skills we have learnt through the guidance of Ms Bell, Mr abbs, Ms Crabb and Mr Higham have made us far better drama students and shed a completely new light on practical drama. This newfound sense of insight has further embellished and outlined the key qualities of what drama should be: Hard work, teamwork and creativity. To see these skills being used in a practical sense, away from a classroom, has helped to develop a heightened instinct of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which can be applied in all areas of life. The rehearsal process is a key example of a situation where not everything goes exactly to plan, in a sense that There were numerous times when lines were forgotten, props were missing, etc. This may sound inefficient and counterproductive to the preparation of the play, but actually experiencing these mishaps has proven to be beneficial in improving our mentality of failure, as from that failure bloomed immense resilience and put life into an improved, realistic perspective. These new lessons that we have learnt from putting on the Flintstreet nativity have developed us as people and drama students, which has made the whole experience of the production one of great happiness and satisfaction".

Well done everyone!
