Well done to year 13 pupil Nick who was part of the successful hockey team who won the U18 National Indoor Hockey finals.

Nick commented about his experiences: "I had the privilege of competing for my hockey club, Bowdon, at the U18 national indoor hockey finals in Nottingham, which we went on to win. It felt great to take home the national title as this was my last competitive tournament playing for Bowdon before I head off to university next year; definitely leaving on a high.

"Indoor hockey is much more fast paced and dynamic than outdoor, with the convenient benefit of being played in a sports hall as opposed to braving the December cold! After an intense final, we were crowned champions with a 5-1 against Old Loughtanians hockey club, last year’s winners. As well as being an amazing achievement for the club, it’s brilliant that for the first time ever a Northern team has won the national indoor championship, hopefully inspiring future generations to get involved with what is admittedly quite a niche sport".

He concluded: "I’ve been lucky enough to play indoor hockey at school this season, as well, which has helped my development alongside club hockey, so a big thank you to the coaches at MGS for supporting that. I look forward to continuing to develop my hockey at university and hopefully beyond!"

Well done to Nick and the rest of the Bowdon Hockey team for this fantastic achievement!
