Anik Mallick, 18, from Longsight, joined us in the Sixth-Form on a bursary.

Today, he celebrated achieving 3A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, with a further A in Physics, in his A-level results.

He will now study Medicine at The University of Sheffield.

Anik said: "I feel euphoric. I would not be the person I am today if I hadn’t attended MGS. It’s been my dream to come to here since I was in Year 6 and I finally achieved that dream when I joined MGS in the Sixth-Form.

"I have no doubt that I wouldn't have secured these amazing grades were it not for the strong academic environment and the nurturing I’ve received whilst I’ve been at the School.

"I would also like to say a big thank you to the people who have sponsored not just me, but all of the other bursary boys. I am so grateful to those people - they are changing people's lives permanently for the better.

"Their support and generosity have inspired me and I'm sure future generations as well, so I would like to extend my sincere thanks to them."

Simon Jones, MGS Director of Development, said: "hearing Anik talk about the life-changing benefits of a bursary really brings home the difference it can make to a young person's life, and I too would like to extend my thanks, once again, to our benefactors and donors who continue to support MGS. Your help really does mean the world to boys like Anik, and can open up so many opportunities to bright boys who might otherwise miss out because of their financial circumstances."
