Electronics

Our teaching covers the practical and theoretical, and enables our boys to develop their own electronic solutions for a wide range of problems.

It is fitting that, in the city where the world’s first electronic computer was developed, we have one of the largest school Electronics departments in the country.

Enthusiasm for the subject is very strong. We take a highly individualised approach to learning, and boys have great scope to pursue their own projects, anything from dice and a sonar walking stick for the visually impaired to a car collision avoidance system, a chicken feeder, or a music-activated lock. The range of projects is truly as diverse as the boys themselves.

In the Sixth Form boys have a rare opportunity to put assembly language programming into practice on a dedicated micro-controller.
