Governing Body

Elly has recently been appointed as a Governor of MGS. Elly holds an M.Sc. in Genetics and Animal Breeding from Edinburgh University and worked in the biotechnology industry in xenotransplantation research with Cambridge based Imutran Ltd. and Novartis.

She was Chair of Governors at Terra Nova School until their merger with Shrewsbury School and is now a Governor for the Shrewsbury School family of schools. Elly is currently also a Trustee for SEND education charity, the Petty Pool Trust and chairs the Education Advisory Board and the People and Safeguarding Advisory Board. Elly also formerly chaired the annual Arley Hall Shopping Spectacular fundraising event working alongside local charities focussed on education, residential care and independence for young people with complex needs, including the Together Trust, David Lewis Centre and The Seashell Trust.

Elly firmly believes in the transformative power of a great education, as a beneficiary of the Assisted Places Scheme herself during her time at Cheadle Hulme School.

She is happiest outdoors, immersed in nature, preferably surrounded by her dogs, chickens and flock of rare breed sheep.
Elly is married to Michael and has two sons.
