Transport
MGS is a truly regional school, and pupils travel to us from across the North West, including places as far away as Preston, Sheffield, Buxton and Stoke-on-Trent. Boys enjoy the independence their journeys give them.
The Friends Scheme aims to connect boys starting at MGS with an older pupil who is able to accompany them on their school journeys for the first few days of the school year.

An increasing number of our boys are opting to take faster train and Metrolink services before connecting with the MGS Shuttle at Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly. This has proved to be very successful for pupils who live in Sheffield, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Rochdale, Oldham, Stalybridge, Marple, Glossop and the High Peak, and Congleton.
We monitor forecasts closely and the arrangements for decision-making and communication when severe weather warnings are issued can be read here.
