Service

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Mahatma Gandhi

The concept of service and of giving something back to the community is part of the time-honoured ethos here at MGS, and goes far back in our history.

Our very established Volunteering programme is an important and distinctive feature of life at MGS and takes many forms: paired reading at primary schools, distribution of food through foodbanks and the Islamic Society and gifts at Christmas supporting schools in Salford and Looked After Children in Salford, visiting the elderly, teaching English as an additional language, recycling schemes, gardening, and working with special schools. There is an expectation that all our boys will be involved in Volunteering at some point in their time at MGS.

The MGS Lower school Diploma has been established to encourage pupils to give up their time in service to others and try new things within the school community. Pupils have a list of different activities to complete which include supporting their school and local community.
