Sixth Form Entry

We welcome Sixth Form applications from students who are currently studying GCSEs (or equivalents, if abroad) in Year 11. Students should be aged between 15 years and nine months and 17 years and three months on 1 September in the year of entry.

Bursary places are also available in the Sixth Form.

Further details of these can be found in the Fees and Assistance section of our website

Open Events

The Sixth Form Open Evening for September 2027 entry is scheduled to take place as follows:

Thursday 12 November 2026, 6:00-8pm (register here)

You are also welcome to book in for a personal tour. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding the Sixth Form, do not hesitate to get in touch with the Admissions Department.

All external applicants to the Sixth Form attend a Sixth Form Experience Day, as well as our Assessment Afternoon, as part of the application process.

The Sixth Form Experience Day is an opportunity for an applicant to get a taste of MGS Sixth Form life and for us to get to know them a little better. All applicants will be looked after by current pupils and will have the opportunity to see some A level lessons, as well as to enjoy break and lunchtimes in our new Hibbitt Sixth Form Centre. There will also be an interview to find out more about them, their academic passions and co-curricular interests. In March, all applicants will attend the Assessment Afternoon where they will sit assessments in selected subjects that they intend to study at A level. These assessments will not require any additional preparation but will test current GCSE knowledge and academic potential.

Following interviews and assessment, a conditional offer will be made. A typical offer will require a student to achieve an average of a grade 7 across GCSE subjects, with at least a grade 8 in the subjects they are choosing to study.

If you would like further information about our admissions process or Sixth Form courses, please contact our Admissions department:

All students are required to choose four subjects to study in the Sixth Form and below you will find a list of those currently offered.

More information about each subject can be found under the ‘Academic’ tab, within the ‘Academic Departments’ section of the website
