Our Donors
Our alumni and supporters have gone further than those of any other UK school in the scale of support since the removal of the Assisted Places Scheme in 1997. We are enormously grateful to all of our donors who, through their generosity, enable the School to provide an education of the highest quality to suitably able boys. There have been over 3000 individual donors to the School and the Bursary Fund since 1997. All donors of £2,000 or more are recognised as benefactors of MGS and are invited each year to the Benefactors’ Lunch.
We would like to mark our appreciation of large gifts by linking the donor’s name with specific aspects of our bursary fundraising. We are enormously grateful to members of the Hugh Oldham Society who have donated substantial amounts to help refound the School. The current cost of endowing a bursary place in perpetuity is £400,000, a sum which we expect to produce an annual investment return equivalent to a school fee. Those individuals endowing one or more places will have their name inscribed on the Boards of Refoundation and be invited to be recognised as a member of the Bexwyke Society. Major donors making a gift of over £50,000 will have their name inscribed in stone, if desired, on the Boards of Refoundation surrounding the main entrance to the School.
The Langworthy Society recognises Old Mancunians and friends who wish to support MGS by leaving a gift in their will.
