Physics

From the formation of a star to the bouncing of a ball, Physics helps us to understand the universe in which we live.

Our aim is to develop in our boys scientific ways of analysing complex but everyday problems.

The department’s highly qualified subject specialists enjoy close links with Oxford University, Manchester University and the European Nuclear Research Organisation, CERN.

Outside the classroom boys have the opportunity to compete in a range of competitions, which include national Physics Challenges and Olympiads, and our boys regularly win Gold and Silver Awards. We have a thriving Engineering Club and our physicists can also attend and help to run Philosophical Society, which embraces all three sciences, and has a programme of lectures featuring many leading national figures.
