Biology

Biology is a rapidly developing science, very much related to the problems of modern life, and the courses we offer reflect this.

Boys who study Biology through to a more advanced level are well equipped to pursue a higher qualification in Natural Sciences, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine or Forensics, to name but a few.

Our teaching staff have extensive academic experience, including lecturing at University, and close links with academic or biological organisations.

In addition to high academic standards, boys can expect a vibrant range of extra-curricular opportunities, including museum visits and lectures. Sixth Form boys are encouraged to take part in the national Biology Olympiad and have enjoyed considerable success over the years. We run residential courses, including an annual lambing weekend, and our Natural History Society is highly active. Philosophical Society, the School’s oldest society, is run entirely by a Sixth Form committee; it embraces all three sciences, with lectures from many leading national figures.
