Congratulations to year 7 pupil Jayvas who has passed ABRSM Grade 6 Piano with Distinction and ARSM Saxophone Diploma with Merit.

Jayvas said: “I started playing the saxophone when I was only six years old, thinking the saxophone was a cool and shiny instrument, but I was totally incorrect.  Playing the saxophone and piano, achieving all the awards and grades cost a lot of time and hard work. This includes practising frequently and joining bands and ensembles to get myself used to this instrument. However, playing music makes my days better and more relaxing. Each time I have a chance to perform, I feel nervous, but also very satisfied at the end. I am delighted for the result that I got on the saxophone and piano exams, but I hope to get an even better result in the next grade I am doing.  I am also very grateful for all my past teachers and piano accompanists, and without them I wouldn’t have achieved a saxophone ARSM diploma and piano grade six this year within my musical journey”.

He added: “I have been accepted to study in the JRNCM with scholarships awarded from ABRSM, but I will still join the Concert Band at MGS as I really want to contribute to the school. I do think this school provides many co-curricular bands and activities for me to join and gives the chances and opportunities for me to perform in assemblies and concerts.  Also, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me in my journey, my family, school teachers and everyone reading this”.

Well done Jayvas and we wish you the best of luck in your musical journey!
