Important announcement about traffic congestion at MGS during Eid

There is likely to be severe traffic congestion near MGS on Wilmslow Road on either Sunday 25 June or the morning of Monday 26 June, associated with the celebration of Eid in Platt Fields Park.

Eid will fall on either Sunday 25 June or Monday 26 June. The timing has yet to be confirmed because it hinges on the sighting of the new moon.

On the first morning of Eid 5,000 people are expected to attend prayers and celebrations in Platt Fields Park. There will be security checks and a strong police presence in the area.

It will not be possible to walk across the park to school.

Whether Eid falls on Sunday or Monday, our strong advice is to:

·         Set off early and allow plenty of time for the journey

·        If driving, approach MGS from the East, via Birchfields Road; avoid Wilmslow Road if at all possible.

If your son is sitting a public examination on Monday morning and is delayed, please tell him to phone the School.

The official start of Eid is expected to be announced on Saturday evening, so you may wish to look out for this information.
