Best of luck to year 10 pupil Michael W who currently swims for Altrincham Swimming Club and who achieved 3rd place at the Cheshire Championships earlier this year.

Michael commented on his swimming journey thus far: "I began my swimming journey at Altrincham Swimming club when I was in year 3 to develop my swimming skills. I swam regularly, slowly getting better and getting into faster groups. I made my first counties in 2019 which I swam pretty well at for my first ever counties. I worked hard, attending lots of galas and my first swim camp in 2019 where I went to Torremolinos. I made my second counties in 2020 where I got close to getting top 3 in any races. This year was also when I made my first regionals which was slowly cancelled by Covid. After all the lockdowns, I came back stronger in 2022 where I got my first medals at Counties including winning the 50 freestyle. I was swimming well which got me to summer Regionals where I made two finals. I swam well during the qualifying window for nationals where I managed to qualify in the 200 freestyle for English Nationals in the last possible race for Nationals. At Nationals I narrowly missed out of finals coming 11th (needed top ten for finals). Coming back from summer, I competed at winter regionals which I swam very well at. I am now aiming for in the next year for some Cheshire records, Regional medals and National finals, and perhaps even a medal at Nationals".

Good luck to Michael for all his training and upcoming competitions!
