Twelve pupils from years 7-10 competed for the Peter Greenburgh Recital Cup, as part of an annual music recital in honour of the Old Mancunian.

Congratulations to this year's winner year 7 pupil Cameron who performed Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata No. 12 in A Flat major, Op26, 3rd and 4th Movements.

Cameron commented on his experience: "It was such an enjoyable evening and privilege listening to all my super talented musician friends. All their performances were amazing! I feel incredibly grateful and honoured to receive the Peter H. Greenbough Cup and to have heard the story of his life from his niece, Joan, who donated this trophy to school in the memory of Peter. As an Old Mancunian and then a young pilot, he sacrificed his life for his country during World War II."

He added: "It is such an inspiration that he devoted his life to what he believed in and loved. It will inspire me to carry on with my music journey and bring joy to the people with my music. Many thanks to MGS and MGS music department for all the wonderful opportunities and events. I’m very proud to be part of this community."

Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to our adjudicator Ms Julia Mayall, and Joan Greenburgh who presented the Peter Greenburgh Memorial Trophy!
