Thank you very much to Sir Graham Brady, Chairman of the 1922 Committee, for taking the time to visit The Manchester Grammar School today. He led a very insightful assembly to year 12 and 13 pupils alongside members of staff. Sir Graham has been the Conservative MP for Altrincham and Sale West since 1997. At Graham's election in 1997 he was the youngest Conservative MP. It was great to gain a further insight into politics, especially given the recent turbulence.

Year 13 pupil Christian J spoke about the visit: "I have been fascinated by politics for some time and particularly so by the political events over the Summer during which Sir Graham Brady - as Head of the 1922 Committee - had such a large role in, overseeing a vote of no confidence and two leadership elections. I wrote to him, on the off chance that he might be interested in coming to school to talk to the Sixth Form and I was delighted that he accepted the invitation. Sir Graham Brady visited the School and was more than willing to answer questions posted by the students - including those on the leadership elections and the current political turmoil’! It was fantastic to see him in school and for providing us with such insight into his role as MP and the events of the Summer.  We look forward to more visiting MPs over the course of the remainder of the year."

Year 13 pupils who are currently studying A-Level Politics, also had the opportunity to ask further questions and hear about Sir Graham's experiences in politics, as they met in the Archives Room following the talk.
