Silver medals went to Jason L in U17 sabre, TT O in U17 epee and Lucas C in U14 sabre.

Bronze medals were picked up by: Dylan Z in year 6, (U12 sabre) for Michael Z and Malachi C (U17 sabre), Raid K in U12 epee and Ahmed E (U14 sabre).

We also had 3 pupils entering their first competitions: Euan T, Billy D and Bill H of which Bill and Billy fought two weapons.

Year 10 pupil Haris commented on his experiences: "At MGS we are lucky enough to be surrounded by excellent sporting facilities and the opportunity to try new and emerging sports. As a pupil entering year 7, I took an immediate liking to Fencing. Having suffered from hypermobile joints from a young age, I was unable to participate in team sports the way I wanted to. After attending a fencing taster session at the Manchester Fencing Centre, I found that fencing demands strategy, strength, mental awareness, stamina, and sportsmanship. I also discovered that, because fencing is an individual sport, one can learn at their own pace. Additionally, there is also a direct correlation between the effort you put in and the results you can achieve. All these characteristics were appealing to me. I started my fencing journey in Year 7 once a week with coach Dave Taylor. As the fencing community within MGS grew over the next few years, the number of sessions per week increased. There is a huge sense of comradery within MGS fencing.

"I recently competed in the Youth Series Sabre Final Fencing tournament. The competition had an electric atmosphere right from the start. Competitors came from all over the country, and I really enjoyed fighting against new opponents. Although it was tiring and tough, I learnt a great deal. Triumph in my final fight, and hence securing the gold medal was a great relief. I was delighted to leave the competition with a record of 9 wins : 1 loss. Overall, the competition went incredibly well. I am very happy to bring back the gold medal and first prize for MGS fencing. I had a great time and am looking forward to future competitions".

Well done to everyone who competed and best of luck for upcoming training and competitions!
